Hunting and fishing are more than a sport; they are a tradition handed down from one generation to another. The character that is built, the instruction and wisdom that are given, and the time invested produce some of the greatest memories of a lifetime. We understand the value of preserving these memories through taxidermy.
This mount tells the story of a man who went hunting with his son for the first time at the age of 46. He had moved from the expanding area of Central Florida to lower Alabama. After moving into his home, a neighbor offered to let him and his son climb into their shooting house one January afternoon.
He wore blue jeans and a light camouflage jacket with a ball cap trimmed in bright blue. His son wore a royal blue hoodie and jeans. They didn’t know deer could see the color blue better than any other color.
They climbed into the shooting house at 4:30 PM and just 15-minutes later deer started walking into the cotton field. At 5:15 PM, the deer pictured walked out of the pines to follow a doe. “I’m going to shoot that buck!” he said to his son.
Boom! An 8-point buck on his first ever hunt after being in the stand only 45-minutes. That’s one amazing story!
His wife was so excited and insisted he get it mounted as his upcoming anniversary gift. That is when he called Mike at Jackson Branch Taxidermy.
There is something special about tracking turkeys, calling the Toms into the perfect setup, and bagging one of these big, beautiful birds!
Sitting on the ground is far different from sitting high up in a shooting house or above the game in a tree stand. The challenge creates an anticipation that some say is unrivaled in hunting. The thrill of a close-range encounter is always memorable.
The memories last when the prized Tom is mounted with care and becomes a centerpiece for family gatherings and numerous conversations for decades to come.
When the hunt is done and the bird is in hand, there is one thing left to do.
Everyone knows fish stories tend to grow. The fish gets bigger the longer the story is told.
But what if you actually catch a monster, 12-pound bass? Who’s going to believe you 10 years from now when you cannot find the picture on your phone?
Bring that monster to Mike and the only story that will grow is of your fishing prowess!
Henry had been deer hunting hundreds of times in his life, but this day was special. His grandson, Jake was hunting with him.
They were hoping to see a buck walk into their field of vision so that Jake could get his first deer. What crossed their path was a shock to both of them.
The Bobcat curled around two trees looking the opposite direction of the ground blind. Henry knew this was the moment for Jake to get it in his sights. With a little help from his grandfather, Jake took the shot and came home with something exotic!
Henry wouldn’t trust this mount to average taxidermist. You shouldn’t either!
The duck blind is set, the decoys are out, the guns are loaded, and the sun is starting to rise. Everyone waits for grandpa to make the first call, it’s a tradition.
Grandpa is the oldest family member on this hunt but he is also the most experienced hunter. His call works more often than others, and this time is not different.
The group flying by to the East catches the call and turns right in your direction. The calling continues and the ducks maintain their course. Everyone steadies their vision and their shotguns until…now!
Gunfire rings out, pellets fly, and ducks drop nose first into the lake.
Pictures are taken after the hunt but they are no match to a great mount.
